The design of the cross is for the Armenian Christian people and the circle is called Eternity. During the Armenian genocide, thousands of Armenian girls were discarded after being raped. “Each girl had been nailed alive upon her cross, spikes through her feet and hands, only their hair blown by the wind, covered their bodies.” In 2013 an 85-year-old Christian Armenian woman was repeatedly stabbed to death in her apartment, and a crucifix carved onto her naked corpse.  Also, a 12-year-old Christian boy was beaten by his teacher and harassed by students for wearing a cross around his neck.
